A nice and special Bed and Breakfast in the Loire Valley

bed-and-breakfast-loire-valley-loches-france
This Bed and Breakfast is located in the very heart of the "Val de Loire" ( french word for Loire Valley ).  (Highly recommanded by the Tripadvisor Community, see last reviews here...)
It is a perfect homebase for touring the areas chateaux, wineries,  abbeys, and all this very rich and historic region of "Touraine"  ( french old name of this royal province still used by locals ) also named "garden of france" by kings living there from early 14th century.
This region has been inhabited since the Middle Palaeolithic period; there is an excellent " pre-historique museum " few kilometers from the place and a 15.000 yrs huge carved cave  to visit nearby...
The Loire valley climate is usually favorable most of the year, the Loire river often acting as a line of demarcation in France's weather between the northern climate and the southern. It has a significant effect on the mesoclimate of the region, adding a few degrees of temperature. The climate can be cool with springtime frost while wine harvest months may have rain. Summers are hot, but rarely very hot ; however influences from the Atlantic moderate the temperature with breezes; this is one of the reasons why it became the King's Valley for plaisance and romantic history of france.

Romantic Chateaux, fortress cattles, and Great gardens in this very center of France

The place is very close to - less than 15 minutes by car -  from Chenonceau - and 20 minutes -  from Amboise and the Leonardo da Vinci House " Clos Luce ", but not only..!
The very famous Chambord , eastern direction, which is the further Loire Chateau, is less than 1 hour away, and on the western side , the famous Saumur, too. Between those 2 are Hundreds of Cattles, gardens, Many famous other Chateaux with so different styles and historic famous guests too, as :Chinon, Cheverny, Blois, Chaumont sur Loire, Tours, Villandry, Ussé, Langeais, Azay-le-rideau are all around
But not only; plenty of private and open to visit are very interesting too : Montpoupon, Montresor, Chissay, Fougères sur Bièvre, Azay-le-feron, le Rivau, etc.... hundreds too.

Great famous Wines of France too in that place

Loire valley is known in France for its famous "appelation controlee". The area includes 87 appellations under the Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC), Vin Délimité de Qualité Superieure (VDQS) and Vin de pays systems. While the majority of production is white wine from the Chenin blanc, Sauvignon blanc and Melon de Bourgogne grapes, there are red wines made (especially around the Chinon region) from Cabernet franc. In addition to still wines, rosé, sparkling and dessert wines are also produced. With Crémant production throughout the Loire, it is the second largest sparkling wine producer in France after Champagne.
Most Famous "appelations" are : Chinon, Vouvray, Montlouis, Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueuil, Saumur, Touraine, Cheverny, Valencay.
House's owners organize their best to those who want to visit wineyards, wineries, and ceilars.... they love their french products as cheese, wines, and organic food; we have plenty of adresses, about these.
Also don't miss , twice a week, all year long, their local Loches'market, with hundreds of local producer coming to sell their fantastic food, beverage, Aaarghhh.... Heaven is there for epicurians..!

An authentic Renaissance House in a medieval town

But the very special is, this Guest House is, ALSO in the heart of the real medieval town, of Loches . Very interesting to visit too,  with a huge historic past common to France . (Joan of Arch came there just after lifting the siege of Orleans in only 9 days against the English , and from Loches, in May 1429, she paved the way for the coronation of Charles VII on the way to Reims in the middle of English lines, as a start to recover France teritories from 100 years of English domination .

The House is 500 yrs old , from the 15th century for the principal, and Romans times for the undergrounds (as secret galleries and incredible legends..) from years 450...!. It has been /and still restored by a passioned couple, by hands..!, since 10 years.

"La Maison de l'Argentier du Roy", Bed and Breakfast in the town of Loches, is the place to stay ...

“Wonderful Experience!”
We just returned from a trip to France including Paris, Normandy, and the Loire Valley. Our stay at La Maison de l'Argentier du Roy was by far the best part of our vacation. Christine and Phillipe are both wonderful! You could not ask for better hosts. They made the enitre process so easy from making the reservation to departure. Their home is beautiful and affords every comfort. The history of the place is intriguing as well. Be sure to have Phillipe tell you about it. The breakfast Christine serves is wonderful and we enjoyed talking with her every morning. She and Phillipe are both so knowledgeable about the area and helpful with planning your time there. The location is perfect for touring the areas chateaux, wineries, and everything else the valley has to offer. If you are planning to visit the Loire Valley, we highly recommend La Maison. We can't wait to return!
“Great place to stay”
We stayed at la maison on this pasta march and we had a lovely time. We were 6 people so we reserved 3 rooms and they were all lovely as if yo were staying in a small castle. In the mornings Christine made a delicious breakfast. We decided to stay here because of the reviews we read before we went to France and they were very helpful in making our decision. Also the location is excellent to visit the different chateau in the region.
“This is the Best! -- Great Hospitality in a Medieval Town”
We planned a stay in the Loire Valley after our first week in Paris to see the countryside, some of the best chateaus in France, and several wineries. We picked this B&B after reading Trip Advisor reviews of places we might stay and couldn't be happier with the hospitality afforded us by Christine and Phillip and the great experiences we had. It is indeed Number 1. After navigating a narrow road as advised by the TI in town and thinking we had missed it because the numbers were growing larger, we continued through the wall and found a small piece of heaven. We were shown by Christine to the Balzac Room with the wonderful modern shower in the turret. It was perfect. Immaculate with a view, storage, and all the conveniences we needed. Breakfasts were as mentioned in these reviews, generous, diverse, and delicious (homemade jam is wonderful). Christine helped us with advice on restaurants and sights to see. Loches is a great base to explore from. We were there for 4 nights and had plenty to occupy us. The town itself is an attraction. There are several good restaurants at various price points, plenty of shops, and the unforgettable experience of living in a real Medieval town that is still going strong. I must admit that we were somewhat dubious about what lay before us when we arrived because shortly before leaving on our trip to France, my wife suffered a severe sprain to her ankle. She had to wear a foot brace boot which made walking tough on the old cobblestones around town. Even so, our experiences here were the best of our trip. Lots of that is due to the friendliness and hospitality of Christine who made sure we had an ice bag every evening for my wife's ankle and helped us find some great wine caves and chateaus. The many reviews that guided us here all attest to this being a special find. We certainly agree.
“Country delight”
Everyone thinks France is all about Paris and shopping. Well take it from a diva and shopaholic that you are wrong. The best part of my trip was when we stayed at the la maison de l'argentier du roy, in loche, and was hosted by Christine and Phillip . Our room was upgraded and we had the place basically to ourselves. Breakfast was lovely and though late one morning, nothing was said to make us feel bad and was served with patience and kindness. The room was clean, comfortable and delightful. I wanted to take the whole bathroom home with me I was in love with the design. The house nestled in the hills, makes for a perfect quiet location where you are in walking distance of a perfect little town of loche, where everyone is genuine and amazing. I found the best shopping deals at the little boutiques there, and being a master at shopping I was delighted with my finds. I also got my hair done at Mary's and the hair shop took with no appointment and did an awesome job. The bed and breakfast was one of the better ones in the area and since I complain all the time and hated my hotel choices in Paris, and I totally recommend this hotel, you should take my advice and know it is so worth it. We were there in winter and it was lovely, but in the spring, they have gardens which I am sure are just amazing ... Hats off to Christine and Phillip for making my stay worth my whole trip in france. Plus you must go to the restaurant on top of the hill, ask Christine, it was romantic and amazing food, and the chateaux and wineries, just delightful... Email me with any questions.. Paris sucked..
“Exceptional place”
It is hard to know what to say about this B & B because words cannot do justice to it. La Maison certainly lives up to its reputation. It is beautiful, historic, reasonably priced and with a perfect view of the chateau. Philippe and Christine are the ultimate hosts. They rightly take pride in the property that they have immacutely renovated. They are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts were delicious and generous (Christine makes the best boiled eggs!), and we particularly loved the animated discussions. Philippe should be an actor! This really is the best place to stay in France and we will definitely be back.
“The perfect place”
Absolutely, hands down, the best place we stayed! Beautiful, comfortable, amazing location, fantastic hosts (including departing bottle of Loire Valley wine), extremely affordable and with a story behind it. Just what you're after in the Loire.
“Simply lovely!”
If you are looking for that "perfect French experience" - look no further. This is it! Christine and Phillipe could not have been more kind and helpful.. (They also speak English which is a huge bonus!) A beautiful B & B with charm and character beyond your wildest dreams! Highly recommended!
“One of the best B&B's we have stayed in”
We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The house has wonderful character and the rooms were delightful. Our room had a gorgeous shower built into a hidden doorway in the bookcase which turned out to be in the turret of the castle-like house. The house is kept to a very high standard and breakfast offered enough food to last you well beyond lunch time. The hosts were extremely helpful and accommodating, helping us organize tours of the wine regions and helping us book tastings at some of the cellars in the region. At less than €100 per night, it was also terrific value for money. Once settled, the small town and local restaurants are within easy walking distance. Loches is a wonderful little medieval town with a castle at the top of the town that contains a lovely restaurant.
Don't Miss Staying Here - One of the Best We have Ever Stayed At”
Thank you, thank you, thank you....for all both of you did to help make our trip so perfect. You bent over backward to make sure every detail was taken care of....the phone calls you made, the places you arranged, the pillows you gave us so i could sit in the most uncomfortable car we have EVER rented anyway (being 5' tall it isn't easy to find a car that fits and this auto was the worst).
Breakfast was something you only dream about....complete with homemade yogurt! who said the French are not nice people....we are here to tell everyone: STAY HERE you will not regret it ... That is if you can get in, as they are booked lots of the time. Enjoy. Dee & Dick B
“A bit of history and luxury in Loches”
We were very warmly welcomed by Philippe and Christine. The accommodation was very affordable and we had two beautifully restored adjoining rooms that opened into the gorgeous garden. The beds were very comfortable and the shower great. The walk into town was only 5 minutes. One day we bought some lunch and came back to the garden and sat in the deck chairs and enjoyed our lunch in the sun relaxing. We arrived on the night of the Evening Markets and Loches was vibrant with music, food, wine and arts and crafts. It was great! The castle and gardens were worth a visit. Loches has so many interesting things to see. I recommend to all my friends travelling to the Loire Valley to stay with Philippe and Christine.
